The Therapy Dog Handler and their Therapy Dog provide emotional support and companionship to participants at our adult day service for individuals with memory loss. This volunteer role involves guiding the therapy dog through interactions with participants, enhancing their well-being through positive, comforting, and therapeutic encounters. The presence of a well-trained therapy dog can offer joy, reduce stress, and foster a sense of connection and calm among residents.

Basic Requirements:

On May 20, 2026, Mesa County Elections are coming to the Life Adjustment Program to assist residents with participating in our democratic process and casting their vote.  Volunteers are being requested to assist with this event.

Program: Hilltop Residential Programs

The Weekly Shopping Support Volunteer plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents of The Commons or Fountains of Hilltop by assisting with a weekly outing to a local grocery store. This weekly outing to either Wal-Mart or City Market takes place on Friday's at 1:30pm.  Volunteers in this role would accompany residents and staff to the grocery store that is scheduled for the week, assist residents with navigating the grocery store, obtaining their items and checking out.  This role helps to promote the safety and provides supportive assistance to the residents in these settings.

Errands (City Market or Wal Mart)

Tuesdays at 1pm - May 5, 12, 19, and 26

Wednesdays at 10 - May 6, 13, 20, and 27

Basic Requirements:

Completion of volunteer application and interview. Successful completion of appropriate screenings including Hilltop Residential criminal background check without CAPS or MVR, TB test, and annual flu shot. Completes program orientation and position specific training. (Approximately two hours) Minimum age requirement of 16 Ability to lift, push or pull 25 lbs Must wear name badge Positive attitude. Dependable and responsible. Maintain resident and family confidentiality. Ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic. Good listening and communication skills. Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly. Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
