Contribute positively to the lives of homebound seniors in the Grand Junction area by becoming an SOS Ride Scheduler. In this important volunteer role, you will help connect seniors to essential services such as doctor appointments, grocery store visits, and pharmacy pickups by coordinating rides with volunteer drivers.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application packet and interview.
- Must be 21 years old.
- Successful completion of appropriate screenings: Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal background check, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry Screening and Fingerprinting
- Completes program orientation (approximately 1 hour)
- Dependable and responsible.
- Ability to lift, push or pull 20lbs.
- Maintain client and family protected health information (HIPPA) and confidentiality.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Good computer skills
- Completes and submits volunteer hours by the 5th of the month to the Volunteer Administrator.
- Abide by all Hilltop and S.O.S policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Shifts are typically on Thursdays and Fridays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, but there is flexibility in the number of hours you can commit to.
- Hours can be adjusted based on your availability. Maintain accurate records of rides scheduled and completed, and ensure a smooth process for all involved
- Interact regularly with SOS volunteer drivers over the phone to assess their availability for upcoming rides.
- Schedule rides for homebound seniors, ensuring that clients' transportation needs are met for medical, grocery, and other essential services.
- Communicate ride details to both the client and volunteer drivers, ensuring all parties are well-informed.
- Handle any changes to the schedule by promptly notifying clients and drivers of cancellations, reschedules, or alterations.
