As a Class Instructor at Life Adjustment Program, you will have the chance to offer an ongoing class on a subject you are passionate about, from science and engineering to art and literature. Your role will help ignite engagement and foster new experiences for our residents, enriching their daily lives and contributing to a vibrant community atmosphere.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application and interview.
- Successful completion of Hilltop Residential Criminal Background Check without CAPS or MVR, TB test, and annual flu shot.
- Completes program orientation and position specific training. (Approximately four hours)
- Must be a minimum age of 21
- Ability to lift, push or pull 20 lbs.
- Must wear name badge

- Maintain resident and family confidentiality.
- Ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
- Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
- Class Facilitation: Design and deliver an engaging ongoing class on a subject of your choice, tailored to the interests and abilities of the residents. Facilitate the class in a manner that encourages participation, fosters learning, and enhances residents’ enjoyment.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Collaborate with the Life Enrichment team to schedule a regular time slot for your class that fits within the facility’s programming calendar. Ensure consistency in class timing and frequency, providing a reliable and regular learning opportunity for residents.
- Supply Management: Work with Volunteer Services and facility staff to identify and acquire the necessary supplies and materials for your class. Coordinate who will provide the supplies and ensure that they are available for each session.
- Class Preparation and Cleanup: Prepare the classroom or designated area according to your class requirements, ensuring it is set up to your liking and conducive to a positive learning environment. Handle cleanup after each class, including tidying up the room and organizing or disposing of materials as needed.
- Engagement and Support: Engage with residents in a supportive and encouraging manner, adapting your approach based on their feedback and needs. Foster a sense of community and connection through interactive and meaningful class experiences.
