Description

As a Volunteer Driver at the Life Adjustment Program, you will play a key role in enhancing the mobility and quality of life for our community members. Your responsibilities will include driving residents to medical appointments, enrichment activities, and scheduled outings. By supporting our Life Enrichment team and supplementing the efforts of our employed drivers, you will help ensure that our residents have access to the services and activities they need.

Basic Requirements

  • Completion of volunteer application and interview.
  • Successful completion of Hilltop Residential Background Check without CAPS and with MVR, TB test, and flu shot.
  • Successful completion of program orientation and position specific training totaling 4 hours.
  • Completes two, 4 hour driver trainings with Hilltop Property Services. (Approximately 8 hours)
  • Must be a minimum age of 21
  • Volunteer should possess strong interpersonal skills and open mindedness
  • Demonstrates that you are dependable and responsible.
  • Demonstrates that you will maintain client and family confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic.
  • Demonstrates good listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Completes and submits volunteer hours to position supervisor monthly.
  • Abides by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Appointments: Assist in transporting residents to and from medical appointments, working closely with the employed medical bus driver to coordinate schedules and ensure timely arrivals.  Provide a safe and comfortable experience for residents during transport, including assisting with boarding and deboarding if needed.
  • Enrichment Activities: Drive residents to community-based enrichment activities organized by the Life Enrichment team. This may include cultural events, recreational activities, or other planned events designed to enhance residents’ well-being.
  • Scheduled Outings: Transport residents to various scheduled outings such as shopping trips, group lunches, and other community engagements.  Ensure a pleasant and enjoyable experience by assisting residents with their needs during the outing.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work with the Life Enrichment team and employed staff to identify and fill gaps in transportation services, expanding the department’s capacity to offer diverse and engaging activities.  Communicate effectively with staff and residents to coordinate transportation needs and ensure a smooth operation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and driving regulations, ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.
