The Community Outing Support Volunteer plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents of The Life Adjustment Program by assisting with and facilitating enjoyable and meaningful community outings. These outings may include trips to the grocery store, lunch at local restaurants, fishing at a nearby lake, or other recreational activities. The role involves providing physical, emotional, and logistical support to ensure a safe and enriching experience for all participants.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application and interview.
- Successful completion of Hilltop Residential Background Check without CAPS or MVR, TB test, and flu shot.
- Successful completion of program orientation and position specific training totaling 4 hours.
- Volunteer should possess strong interpersonal skills and open mindedness
- Demonstrates that you are dependable and responsible.
- Demonstrates that you will maintain client and family confidentiality.
- Demonstrates an ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic.
- Demonstrates good listening and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Completes and submits volunteer hours to position supervisor monthly.
- Abides by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance and Support: Accompany residents on community outings, providing physical support and assistance as needed, including helping with mobility, navigation, and social support.
- Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of residents during outings by adhering to safety protocols and addressing any concerns with staff that arise.
- Engagement: Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere by encouraging social interaction, conversation, and participation in activities.
- Logistical Coordination: Connect with facility life enrichment team to understand outing logistics, transportation arrangements and how the volunteer can assist with preparing any necessary materials and supplies.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with residents, and facility staff to ensure that all needs are met and to address any issues promptly.
- Feedback: Gather feedback from residents about their experiences and report any concerns or suggestions to the Life Enrichment Coordinator for continuous improvement of the outing opportunities.
