The Meal Provider Volunteer will prepare and serve meals for young adults residing in our residential program. In this role, volunteers will help create a warm and inviting atmosphere through the preparation of meals, as well as engage with residents in a casual, supportive setting. The goal is to offer not only nourishing food but also a sense of belonging and connection to our residents.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application and interview.
- Successful completion of appropriate screenings (Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal Background check without CAPS or MVR, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry screening, and finger printing)
- Completes program orientation and position specific training. (One hour program orientation)
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Strong leadership, public speaking, and adaptability skills
- Dependable, responsible, and consistent.
- Maintain client and family confidentiality.
- Minimum age requirement: 18 or 14 with adult supervision
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
- Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.

Meal Preparation:

Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals that meet dietary needs and preferences.

Ensure food is prepared in accordance with food safety guidelines and program standards.

Help with meal planning (including menu creation and grocery shopping if necessary).

Meal Service:

Set up dining area in a welcoming and accessible manner.

Serve meals to residents in a casual, friendly setting.

Engage with residents in a respectful, kind, and non-judgmental manner during meal service.

Clean-Up and Maintenance:

Assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining area before, during, and after meal service.

Ensure that all food is stored properly after meal service, and that leftovers are managed according to food safety standards.

Foster positive, supportive relationships with residents through casual conversations during meals.
