The Senior Daybreak Participation Ambassador provides crucial assistance at Senior Daybreak, a day program for individuals with memory loss, helping participants engage in social activities, manage meal service, and enjoy a supportive and enriching environment. This role involves working closely with participants to ensure they have a positive and engaging experience, while also supporting program staff in the daily operations of the program.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application and interview
- Successful completion of appropriate screenings: Hilltop Residential Criminal background check without CAPS or MVR, and TB-Testing. Annual flu shot and other vaccinations are encouraged.
- Able to serve 3 hours or more per week.
- Minimum age requirement of 21
- Ability to lift, push or pull 20 lbs
- Must wear name badge
- Enjoy interacting with seniors and the frail elderly.
- Dependable and responsible
- Must be comfortable assisting individuals with dementia.
- Maintain participant and family confidentiality
- Good listening and communication skills
- Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
- Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Assistance: Help participants engage in planned activities, including crafts, games, exercises, and social events, ensuring they have the support they need to participate fully.
- Meal Service: Provide support to participants during mealtimes to ensure a pleasant, safe dining experience.
- Social Interaction: Foster a welcoming and supportive environment by interacting with participants, encouraging socialization, and addressing individual needs or preferences.
- Support and Encouragement: Provide emotional and physical support to participants, helping them navigate activities and offering encouragement to enhance their overall experience.
- Program Assistance: Assist program staff with various tasks as needed, including organizing activity materials, preparing spaces, and managing any special requests from participants.
- Safety and Well-being: Monitor the safety and well-being of participants during activities and meals, following established protocols and reporting any concerns or incidents to program staff.
- Feedback and Communication: Communicate effectively with participants and program staff to ensure that the program meets the needs of all involved and gather feedback for program improvement.
