Description

The Community Outing Support Volunteer plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents of The Commons of Hilltop by assisting with and facilitating enjoyable and meaningful community outings. These outings may include trips to the grocery store, lunch at local restaurants, fishing at a nearby lake, or other recreational activities. The role involves providing physical, emotional, and logistical support to ensure a safe and enriching experience for all participants.

Candle Kitchen and Gelato - Tuesday, June 9, meet at the Commons at 9:30am

Other Outing

  • Mt Garfield Greenhouse and Nursery - Thursday, June 4, meet at the Commons at 9:30am

  • Corn Lake Fishing Trip - Friday, June 5 - meet at the Commons at 9am

  • West Winds Art Gallery - Tuesday, June 16 - meet at the Commons at 1:30pm

  • Palisade Lavender Festival - Saturday, June 27 - meet at the Commons at 9:30am.

Basic Requirements:

  • Completion of volunteer application and interview.
  • Successful completion of appropriate screenings including Hilltop Residential criminal background check without CAPS or MVR, TB test, and annual flu shot.
  • Completes program orientation and position specific training. (Approximately two hours)
  • Minimum age requirement of 16
  • Ability to lift, push or pull 25 lbs
  • Must wear name badge Positive attitude.
  • Dependable and responsible.
  • Maintain resident and family confidentiality.
  • Ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
  • Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assistance and Support: Accompany residents on community outings, providing physical support and assistance as needed, including helping with mobility, navigation, and social support.
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of residents during outings by adhering to safety protocols and addressing any concerns with staff that arise.
  • Engagement: Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere by encouraging social interaction, conversation, and participation in activities.
  • Logistical Coordination: Connect with facility life enrichment team to understand outing logistics, transportation arrangements and how the volunteer can assist with preparing any necessary materials and supplies. 
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with residents, and facility staff to ensure that all needs are met and to address any issues promptly.
  • Feedback: Gather feedback from residents about their experiences and report any concerns or suggestions to the Life Enrichment Coordinator for continuous improvement of the outing opportunities.
