Purpose of Position: The Drop-In Center Support Volunteer provides a welcoming presence and practical support for youth experiencing housing insecurity. Volunteers assist staff in maintaining a safe, supportive environment where youth can access resources, build connections, and feel cared for. This position is essential to helping the drop-in center run smoothly while creating meaningful interactions with the young people we serve.
Basic Requirements:
Completion of volunteer application and interview.
Successful completion of appropriate screenings (Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal Background check without CAPS or MVR, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry screening, and finger printing)
Completes program orientation and position specific training. (One hour program orientation)
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong leadership, public speaking, and adaptability skills
Dependable, responsible, and consistent.
Maintain client and family confidentiality.
Minimum age requirement: 18 or 14 with adult supervision
Good listening and communication skills.
Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and engage youth in a friendly, supportive manner.
Prepare and serve simple meals or snacks.
Assist with light cleaning and general upkeep of the drop-in center.
Participate in simple activities or conversations with youth to build positive relationships.
Act as a third adult on site, allowing staff to escort youth to off-site services when needed.
Support staff with additional tasks that ensure a safe and welcoming space.
Services are provided during Drop-in Center hours, 12pm-5pm Monday-Friday.
