Purpose of Position:The Pride Pod Support Volunteer helps create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for youth and young adults who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride Pod is a weekly group where participants gather for peer connection and support. Volunteers serve as an additional adult presence to help staff facilitate group activities, provide encouragement, and ensure the space feels affirming and respectful for all attendees.
Basic Requirements:
Completion of volunteer application and interview.
Successful completion of appropriate screenings (Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal Background check without CAPS or MVR, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry screening, and finger printing)
Completes program orientation and position specific training. (One hour program orientation)
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong leadership, public speaking, and adaptability skills
Dependable, responsible, and consistent.
Maintain client and family confidentiality.
Minimum age requirement: 18 or 14 with adult supervision
Good listening and communication skills.
Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
Support staff in facilitating Pride Pod activities and discussions.
Engage with youth in a respectful, affirming, and supportive manner.
Help ensure the group environment is safe, welcoming, and inclusive.
Assist with simple set-up or clean-up before and after group meetings.
Act as an additional supportive adult onsite, modeling respect and inclusivity.
