Purpose of Position: The Housing Support Volunteer works alongside young adults utilizing Hilltop’s housing services to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support with cleaning and maintaining their living environments. Many young adults served through Connections programming are learning new skills to manage and sustain their housing. Volunteers in this role encourage independence by allowing youth to take the lead, while offering gentle guidance, encouragement, and hands-on support as needed.
Basic Requirements:
Completion of volunteer application and interview.
Successful completion of appropriate screenings (Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal Background check without CAPS or MVR, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry screening, and finger printing)
Completes program orientation and position specific training. (One hour program orientation)
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong leadership, public speaking, and adaptability skills
Dependable, responsible, and consistent.
Maintain client and family confidentiality.
Minimum age requirement: 18 or 14 with adult supervision
Good listening and communication skills.
Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
Support young adults with basic cleaning and organizational tasks.
Encourage residents to take the lead in managing their space, offering help as requested.
Provide nonjudgmental, compassionate support—approaching each interaction with curiosity and respect.
Model and share practical tips for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
Build trusting relationships that promote dignity, self-confidence, and independence.
Collaborate with staff to ensure support aligns with program goals and resident needs.
