Purpose of Position: If you love words, storytelling, and helping people feel connected to a cause, this role is a wonderful fit. As a Development Communications & Research Support Volunteer, you’ll help shape warm, clear, and community-centered messages that show donors how their support makes a difference. From drafting thank-you notes and donor emails to polishing invitations, creating impact language, and contributing social media captions, your writing will help bring Hilltop’s mission to life. This creative, flexible opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys thoughtful communication, collaborative work, and using their voice to strengthen meaningful relationships.
Basic Requirements
• Completion of volunteer application and interview.
• Successful completion of appropriate screenings Hilltop Non-Residential criminal background check without CAPS or MVR, Trails Child Abuse Registry Screening, and Fingerprinting through Colorado Fingerprinting
• Completes program orientation and position specific training. (Approximately 2 hours)
• Must wear name badge
• Dependable and responsible.
• Maintain participant and donor confidentiality
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Good listening and communication skills.
• Completes and submits volunteer hours monthly.
• Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Performance Responsibility:
•Draft short thank-you messages, donor emails, and newsletter blurbs
• Proofread and polish letters, invitations, and sponsorship materials
• Help rewrite content so it sounds more connected, community-centered, and consistent
• Create short donor-facing “impact language” for campaigns and events
• Draft social media captions for Development events or donor gratitude posts
• Help gather communication elements (quotes, highlights, mini spotlights, mission moments)
