Purpose of Position:The Drop-In Center Support Volunteer provides a welcoming presence and practical support for youth experiencing housing insecurity. Volunteers assist staff in maintaining a safe, supportive environment where youth can access resources, build connections, and feel cared for. This position is essential to helping the drop-in center run smoothly while creating meaningful interactions with the young people we serve.
Basic
Requirements: · Completion of volunteer application and
interview. · Successful completion of appropriate
screenings (Hilltop Non-Residential Criminal Background check without CAPS or
MVR, TRAILS Child Abuse Registry screening, and finger printing) · Completes program orientation and position
specific training. (One hour program orientation) · Ability to work with diverse populations · Strong leadership, public speaking, and
adaptability skills · Dependable, responsible, and consistent. · Maintain client and family confidentiality. · Minimum age requirement: 18 or 14 with adult
supervision · Good listening and communication skills. · Completes and submits volunteer hours
monthly. · Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and
Code of Conduct. Key
Responsibilities: ·
Greet and engage youth in a friendly, supportive
manner. ·
Prepare and serve simple meals or snacks. ·
Assist with light cleaning and general upkeep of
the drop-in center. ·
Participate in simple activities or
conversations with youth to build positive relationships. ·
Act as a third adult on site, allowing staff to
escort youth to off-site services when needed. ·
Support staff with additional tasks that ensure
a safe and welcoming space. ·
Services are provided during Drop-in Center
hours, 12pm-5pm Monday-Friday.
