As a Fitness Instructor at the Commons of Hilltop, you will bring your expertise in movement and exercise to our residents, leading regular fitness classes designed to enhance their physical health and overall well-being. Your role will include scheduling, facilitating classes, and ensuring a supportive and engaging environment.
Basic Requirements
- Completion of volunteer application and interview
- Successful completion of appropriate screenings including Hilltop Residential criminal background check, TB test, and annual flu shot.
- Completes program orientation and position specific training. (Approximately two hours)
- Minimum age requirement of 18
- Ability to lift, push or pull 20 lbs.
- Must wear name badge
- Must provide proof of certification or specialized training for specific fitness instruction provided

Key Responsibilities:
- Class Facilitation: Lead weekly fitness classes tailored to the needs and abilities of the residents, including exercises that promote strength, flexibility, and balance. Create and deliver engaging and effective workouts that encourage participation and physical activity.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Collaborate with Life Enrichment staff to schedule a regular time slot for your fitness classes that fits within the facility’s activity calendar. Maintain consistency in class timing and frequency to provide residents with a reliable and regular fitness opportunity.
- Preparation and Cleanup: Prepare the designated room or space for each class, ensuring it is set up to your liking and meets safety and accessibility standards. Handle all necessary equipment and materials for the class, including setting up before and cleaning up after each session.
- Qualifications and Certification: Provide documentation of necessary certifications or relevant experience in fitness instruction. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of fitness principles and exercises suitable for the senior population.
- Resident Engagement: Foster a positive and motivating atmosphere that supports residents in achieving their fitness goals and improving their physical health. Adapt exercises and activities based on resident feedback and individual needs to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness.
