The Pastoral Care Volunteer offers spiritual and emotional support to participants the Senior Daybreak program. This role involves providing individual and group spiritual guidance, facilitating religious services, and meeting specific spiritual needs as directed by residents. The Pastoral Care Volunteer will work closely with the facility’s team to ensure a respectful and compassionate approach to spiritual care.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of volunteer application and interview.
- Successful completion of appropriate screenings: Hilltop Residential criminal background check, TB test, and flu shot.
- Completes program orientation and position specific training: 1-4 hours of orientation. Hours depend on specific duties and department
- Must wear name badge
- Dependable and responsible.
- Maintain client and family confidentiality.
- Individuals must be at least 18 years of age.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Completes and submits volunteer hours to position supervisor monthly.
- Abide by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Spiritual Support: Engage in the study of religious texts (such as the Bible, Book of Mormon, Qu’ran, etc.) with residents, either individually or in groups, as requested and directed by the residents. Facilitate and participate in scheduled weekly religious services at the Assisted Living Community. Offer personalized spiritual support to residents according to their individual needs and requests.
- Service Commitment: Dedicate a minimum of 1 hour per week to providing spiritual care, with the potential to extend up to 4 hours per week based on participant needs and availability.
- Professional Attire: Maintain clean and appropriate attire suitable for the duties performed, ensuring a professional and respectful appearance.
- Communication and Coordination: Keep open lines of communication with other team members, reporting any concerns or issues to the supervisor. Notify the supervisor promptly if unable to attend a scheduled shift to ensure continuity of care.
